We continue to work on making Kumu more intuitive for our customers. That’s why we’ve recently shifted from a model of “Organizations” to “Workspaces” and because of that, this post now may contain outdated guidance. Head over to this blog for the latest on how to make the most of Workspaces on Kumu.

Over the years it’s been exciting to watch larger and larger groups using Kumu, whether they be corporations, stakeholders, classrooms or communities. With this shift comes a need for a more robust and mature set of features that support the collaboration, feedback, and sharing that is critical when tackling complex challenges as a group.

In the spirit of furthering collective impact, we’re excited to announce some big changes heading your way! Soon, all organization accounts will get:

Free, automated PDFs. Say goodbye to $9 charges and say hello to unlimited, automated PDFs. Need tweaks the automated process can’t handle? Email us to request a PDF, free of charge, with a ~ 1 day turnaround. [Update October 14, 2020: PDFs are now free of charge for all accounts].

Private project archiving. Have private projects you want to continue to share through Kumu but don’t need to edit? Simply archive the project and you’ll no longer need to pay for it. Note that there is a $20 fee to unarchive a project and comments are locked once archived.

Project-wide activity feed. Collaborating with a large team to build out your map? Use the activity feed to keep tabs on who’s making what changes across your project.

Real-time, embedded comments. You’ve done the work of building your map, let us do the heavy lifting to collect the feedback. Engage in discussions and link them to specific elements, connections, and loops. Use comments to brainstorm ideas and make it easy for others to give feedback while you’re building out your map.

Flexible user management. Org members and external collaborators can be added directly to projects as observers, contributors, or managers. Large organizations can still use teams to add groups of people to multiple projects quickly.

Two factor authentication. Activate two factor authentication to keep your account secure. Require 2FA for everyone accessing projects within the organization.

Hourly backups. Map like a madman, knowing you have backups of your project data in case you make a mistake.

These features will only be available for organization projects and we expect to release them by early October. As part of releasing all of this functionality, we’re moving to a model where organizations are a paid tier in Kumu, even if you only use public projects.
